“But the land, whither ye go to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinketh water of the rain of heaven:
A land which the LORD thy God careth for: the eyes of the LORD thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.” Deuteronomy 11:11-12
Out of the midnight of the past year, we enter into a New Year, unaware of what lies ahead. As in past years, we surmise that the coming days will not all be days of sunshine and comfort in the valley; there will be days of difficulty, of wind, testing and cold in the hills.
Yes, the year we are to possess will be a year of hills and valleys, but the overall landscape drinks “water from the rain of heaven”. What comfort we can glean from these words: The Lord shall be our constant supply whether in the valley, or in the hills — that the Lord steadfastly and faithfully cares for us in whatever situation in life we find ourselves in.
He is ever present. His eyes are always upon us, from the beginning of the year, even unto the end of the year.
