Last Days of December

Last Days of December

Time to be       tranquil now
no longer the consonant     prattle of leaves
in tussle with vowels         of the wind,
whatever must fall
has
fallen
to the brumal ground,
flower by flower,
seed by seed.

Colors linger in the sky,
of rose bouquets and tiger lilies,
and the poetry of April crouches
in fetal position
within the uterus of vaporous
snow clouds —

Time to be still.

  1. I love this, Dee. In the cool of breath on winter winds, the songs of our soul are returned to us. In the stillness, our heart listens. Love you. Thank you for this. ~ Always, Bobbie

  2. The family is on their way home and we are working on our move. I was very sad today and asked the Lord to lift my spirits. Your poem reminds me that even in the quietness there can be expectancy. Thanks Dee. And as I read it looked like snow began to fall- sweet.

  3. Greetings from Australia,
I love the fact that you have the courage to talk about your faith in Christ., the most important relationship in my life. Absolutely gorgeous photograph. All the best and God bless you.
