Before Night Falls
gasps of pink,
of wind-swept boughs
scatter chantilly lace
against a silken
wear the fragile veil
upon your crown,
tread softly into the twilight
like the nightingale
before the darkness

why do i have the feeling this was written for me? because deep down i´m convinced all great poetry was written for me. so beautiful.
Oh Lorna, how sweet of you to say this! I am humbled to hear you think of this post as such, and thrilled to know the poem spoke to you directly! Love, Dee
oh Dee….I can see her – both the light and the personification – both are beautiful
Thank you Sandra, how wonderful to know your perception of the poem — the woman, the light and the personification. Love, Dee

Truly lovely. Reminds me of a dream I had of walking in heaven’s ‘cathedral’ with God. Thank you for dramatic imagery so simply and wonderfully expressed.
