A Fragrant Place

A Fragrant Place

Let us go to the calling fields,
for the grove is pregnant with olives
ripe with rainbow
shades of purple, and celadon
pearls enter the race,
awakened from dreams
of yellow blossoms,
butterflies
and bees.

O bring me rinds of bergamot,
mandarin and lime,
branches of cedar
and sandalwood,
lemongrass —
and in the clearing
build a fire
for my kettle
of perfume.

Let the scents simmer
while with the sun
we walk the day,
but remember the pathways,
twists of trails,
faces of forests —
take me back
to that fragrant place
when twilight falls.

  1. Oh, Dee………….you had me at ‘bees’……. I love this in more ways than there is room to right. It speaks to my soul, and that’s a language I can never resist. Thank you. ~ Love, Bobbie

  2. Dee, how beautiful the picture! so I knew the words were going to be beautiful too and they were!
I remain amazed and entranced by your God-given talent!

    1. Dear Cindy, Thank you so much for your encouraging thoughts; I am thrilled that you like the poem. It is a joy to be able to share whatever abilities God has entrusted to me. God bless you richly, Cindy, as you share His love and beautiful thoughts about Him in your blog and with the people you meet every day. Love, Dee

  3. Dee,, I want to thank you for your great encouragement. If it were not for you and Mojo and Joyce in the beginning, I very well could have given up. I never dreamed this could turn into a ministry, but it seems as if that is exactly what God has done. I changed my linkedin profile a little while ago, because the Lord said I shouldn’t keep things separate. I was afraid, but more afraid not to be obedient. And omigosh, has He blessed me for it.I have people now in my groups who are reading it and making comments out in the public world. WOW I had one person who has self published an ebook and is working on her 2nd who said I should get my stuff together so I could publish too. I must have heard that 4 or 5 times this week! I don’t know how to do chapters & put book polish on something like what I have done and turn it into a book. I honestly wouldn’t know where to start.
Still there has to be a reason that I would hear this so many times. I do wonder what God is going to do.–but if anything ever comes of this-you and mojo and joyce will have to take the credit for me being able to go forward, keep on keeping on, write a little every day or every other….just good freind stuff.
ya’ll have become precious to me.

  4. Strangely enough, your words allowed me to taste the scents of the pictured scene! Simple words, masterfully arranged!
