“The Warmth of Scarlet Oceans”

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERAThe Warmth of Scarlet Oceans

Let the gelid evening thaw
in the warmth of scarlet oceans
fathomless
beneath my skin,
for I hold in my tiny hands
a chalice
of burgundy wine,
and the spicéd fragrance of roses
coalesces
with the golden tallow of candles
effulgent
in their stalwart flames —

I am not afraid
of the cold.

  1. O, Dee, I love this…………I imagine you standing on your porch staring out into the cool blue night sky, taking a sip and smiling……..’bring it on’………….. Beautiful, as always. ~ Love, Bobbie

  2. Thank you for the beautiful picture, Dee. I moved back home to Atlanta on Feb 1 and all it has done is rain! and it’s so cold! I have a lot of getting used to I think!
i AM BACK ON MY OLD SITE. cindyfrench.wordpress.com Godaddy just wasn’t for me!

      1. Actually no, it is a book I am reading – very good though a little dated. I am studying “The Madwoman in the Attic,” and “Women Who Run with Wolves.” I love women’s studies and it you remind me of so much I read – keep writing Dee, don’t stop….

        1. The titles are very intriguing and descriptive, I should look into those books! And thank you for your encouragement to keep writing, Sandra. It is so easy to stop writing especially when sidetracked by other routine and mundane things of the day, but gentle nudges such as those you give me definitely inspire me to keep going. Love, Dee

  3. By the time I completed reading, I had a wide grin, something that usually comes with an exquisite bottle of wine.

Beautifully captured – nothing beats inner warmth – in its various facets.

Verse, imagery and theme > and emotions released – as though triggered by the grape of the vine 🙂

    Intoxicating Dee,
    Eric

    1. Good evening, Kathleen. Thank you so much for stoppy by to say hi. Yes, I am glad that spring is here, with the promise of sunnier days! I have been traveling in Asia the past few weeks and was engulfed in so many things that took me out of the writing world. I hope to gradually get back, and your note certainly woke me up from my jet lag and lethargy! All my best, Dee
