Surprised by Light
surprised by light,
it burrows through drape fibers,
casts silver threads upon my pillow,
brushes my eyelids
with soft white feathers —
surprised by daybreak,
the pink and amber sky,
the robin’s first song,
rejoicing —
surprised
by gladness.
