About the Blogger

about the blogger

I am many things to myself and to many people, but first and foremost I am a child of God, saved by grace through Jesus Christ.  I love to write poems, short stories and essays; I love to travel, cook, analyze data, read, and follow politics — I am these and all the other little things that can only be elusively defined in the moments of a day in my life. Just like many other people. Just like you.

I hope you will find rest and calm in my writings, a respite from the hectic world outside.

  1. You have got a wonderful blog started here, and the messages are timeless and pertinent to our world today. Thanks for stopping in at my blog and providing some feedback.

  2. liliessparrowsandgrass-love your blog. I was so encouraged by your snapshot on your parents’ life–I love that they pour themselves into not only their work but God’s world – His “stock in trade” – people.
Keep up the fabulous work! While I know photos are popular, but I so enjoy the writing…they add value to my life!
See you in S Asia someday?

    • Thank you so much, sundowniest, for your encouraging words; I am humbled that my writing speaks to your life. Likewise, I feel the same way about your writing – I always come out with a new appreciation or novel way of looking at things after reading your posts. I am thankful to have met you via WordPress and hope to see you in SE Asia someday! I live in the US but I visit Asia often. I take it you currently live in Asia now?

  3. What a beautiful blog you have…..like a haven or a sanctuary. Your are blessed to possess the gift of poetry. I am not a poet, but have great love for poetry and love the things it makes me think about, feel, and see. Thank you for sharing your gift.

    • Thank you so much for your heartening comment about my site! And thank you for letting me know about your other site —- I would love to follow that one too! Well, politics interests me a lot because I grew up in a political family. 🙂

  8. Thank you for “liking my post” I never seem to have enough time to write! And God is so good to fill my life with little everyday miracles much less the big ones that sometimes I don’t keep track as well. I am hoping that by working w/another blogger who seems so organized and savy, I can have a better topics or table of contents listing for those who are looking for a specificconnection.
I do intend to finish my hospital stay post today. I felt that the first post was plenty long-in fact, if I could have found way to cut it, I would have, but God types these messages out. I just provide the fingers. I can’t wait to see what He says later.

    • Thank you, Cindy, for visiting and following my blog. I enjoyed reading your post on your hospital stay, especially the ending, where one of the hospital chaplains visited you. Just goes to show that the Lord orders our steps and brings people in our lives to encourage and bless us, as we ourselves are a blessing to others. I am following your blog, too, to keep posted on your activities and the little everyday miracles that God fills your life with.

  9. Hi there, I’ve been away for awhile, but have been doing my best to keep in touch with your wonderful writing. 10. Hello. Thank you for taking the time to view my blog today. After looking around on yours I must say that I appreciate you staying in the Bible…at least from the posts I looked at.

    Keep on keeping on,
    NM

  11. Your blog is a testimony of God’s love. It’s always encouraging and inspiring to read such positive words – words full of life and love, words so full of grace. 🙂

  12. Hello Dee! Because I so enjoy your blog, I’ve just nominated lilies, sparrows and grass for the Reader Appreciation Award. There are only a couple rules to follow, which I listed on the post at my site. Basically, link back to the sender (His Creation) and nominate 6 blogs that you follow which you would like others to enjoy also.

    • Hello Ken! My heartfelt thanks for nominating me for the Reader Appreciation Award, and thank you, too, for introducing the 5 other splendid blogs which I sure will visit! Please allow me some time to put the announcement together. Likewise, please know that I so enjoy your blog as well!

  13. I woud like to thank you for the spiritual love and kisses and hugs you have given to my poems! I often think sometimes how one might take that i wrote about the Lord so much, but is me! I am so happy after reading your bio, that you too share the never ending passion for our Lord! He is truly life to also. Sometimes i tire of writing or sharing! I have been writing for 40 years and was not moved by the spirit to share until Jan2010. I always respected the power of words to lift up and bring down, to lift up and to destroy…so i always congnizant that what i write lifts him up always but also on the romantic side show many the value of a marraige where the two become one together! Thanks for blessing my day and i hope you will continue as i will do the same for you my sister! God Bless!

  14. I’ve nominated you as a Beautiful Blogger. Thank you for creating a wonderful site. The Beautiful Blogger Award is for those blogs that are creative, original and add to the blogging community.

Nominees are to nominate seven other bloggers who are also creative and adding value to the blogging community.

    Next, link back to PossessHisPromises.com.

Then, list seven random things about yourself.

Finally, tell those people you have nominated and give them the “rules.”

    Blessings, Karen

  15. Dee, I (Tornadoday, Bobbie, Bob) just nominated you for the Inspiring Blog Award. Here are the rules:
1.Thank the blogger who gave you the award.
2. Tell 7 things about you that have not come up in your blog.
3. Pass this on to 7 other blogs you find inspiring and explain why. Look for a post with my details of why I love you shortly in my blog. ~ Love you, Bobbie ~ and ps…..I won’t be the least bit offended if you don’t keep this chain going (your hair won’t fall out and no one will show up on your doorstop looking for extra change.)

    • The pleasure is mine, as I was so touched and blessed by your post yesterday; I was thrilled to have discovered your site. I love the name of your blog as well, and look forward to reading more of your inspiring and beautiful writing.

        • Hi Sarah,

I post some of my images on my blog, and I do hope to post more, but a lot of the images are royalty free images. I did modify the brightness and contrast rendering of the honeysuckle photo to make it more dramatic, but the original image came from Wikimedia. Thank you so much for your appreciation.

And I just had the pleasure of getting to know your blog, writings and poetry. It is a blessing to be introduced to it, and I look forward to the enjoyment of reading more of your thoughts and words.

    • Happy New Year, Anna! Congratulations on your Blog Award and thank you for nominating my blog. It is a great honor, however, due to time constraints, I will not be able to participate. Thanks so much again for your kindness in nominating my blog. Blessings to you! Dee

    • Dear Marlyn, thank you so much for your kind words, and for nominating my blog. At this moment, I am unable to participate due to time constraints. Thank you for considering my blog for the awesome blossom award! Blessings to you in the New Year!

    • Dear Emily, It is always a pleasure to visit your blog where I gain fresh and new insights on life, love, and being…. I love reading your poetry, whereby I can humbly say I can sometimes fathom some of the depths it requires… I have been away from blogging, but hope to come back albeit sporadic at best… Abundant Blessings, Dee

  26. Your poetry is enchanting. It’s lovely to have re-connected here on wordpress. Love and blessings ♥
