Winter Haiku 11:14

Winter Haiku 11:14

11
frozen twigs lie low
gray fox roams the winter fields
the hungry squirrel

12
silence grows louder
the desolate lily pond
croaking toad has left

13
i  heard your laughter
at night the light of your face
heart bleeds in the snow

14
a thousand journeys
through hills and icy rivers
to hold your warm hand

Winter Haiku 7:10

7

mutton stew with wine
red flames dance the flamenco
tango you and i

8

rain beads on branches
pearls of tears sparkle at night
break of dawn brings joy

9

songbirds warble still
defy the winter starkness
crocus bulbs awake

10

frost on blue mountain
Li Po drinks his wine again
where to go from here

Winter Haiku 4:6

4

my winter blanket
soothes the sorrow of my bones
i await the dawn

5

beside you i lie
there is warmth this winter night
cherry blossoms sleep

6

crystal morning light
snow and infinite green pines
egret wings take flight

1

stars from sapphire sky
fragrance of jasmine flowers
snow in early dawn

2

sugar-sprayed branches
cardinal alights in snow
my heart a gazelle

3

polka dots of snow
tapestries sewn by the wind
bridal veil of lace

Perchance I Would Meet You Again

Perchance I would meet you again
this wintry evening
out in numb forgotten fields
of longing,
I would
touch once more the warmth
of your calloused hands,
rest in the snugness
of your tight embrace —

I would
drown in the wine
of your tender eyes,
slumber
in the lullaby
of your gentle voice —

Perchance I would meet you again
this wintry evening,
the silent
white of snow would turn
into summer dew,
parched stalks of grass
into golden daffodils.
