I Must Go to the Fields Again
I must go to the fields again,
the verdant sea of grass,
the dazzling blaze
of a million wildflowers —
I return from a journey
of innumerable seasons,
my heart is parched from the frost
of manifold winters —
I must go to the fields again
there will I shed the tears
withheld
by silent sorrows,
release the laughter
of irrepressible joys.
I must go to the fields again —
I must go back home.

Absolutely beautiful β reminds me a bit of a poem I loved as a girlβ¦by John Masefield about going down to the sea.
Thank you, Susan! Yes this piece is partially inspired by John Masefield’s timeless poem. I am thrilled you were reminded of “Sea Fever” when you read these words. π©·

I don’t think I know Masefield. It reminded me I thought of Wordsworth but that’s probably way off. In any case, it’s a thing of beauty. Absolutely exquisite.
Thank you so much for your kind words, Ellen! I am delighted that the words reminded you of Wordsworth, it is an honor.
You have such a unique writing style that really resonates with me
Thank you so much for visiting my blog and for your kind words. God bless you!
