you have forgotten
after moments have passed
innumerable
as the evening stars —

behold:
the tear-drenched ebony loam
blossomed into clouds
of fragrant peonies,
fallen lilac petals
awakened
topaz and amethyst lilies —

Come back to the garden
you have forgotten
there you will find me
gathering the flowers.

frozen twigs lie low
gray fox roams the winter fields
the hungry squirrel

the desolate lily pond
croaking toad has left

at night the light of your face
heart bleeds in the snow

to hold your warm hand

mutton stew with wine
red flames dance the flamenco
tango you and i

rain beads on branches
pearls of tears sparkle at night
break of dawn brings joy

songbirds warble still
defy the winter starkness
crocus bulbs awake

frost on blue mountain
Li Po drinks his wine again
where to go from here

my winter blanket
soothes the sorrow of my bones
i await the dawn

beside you i lie
there is warmth this winter night
cherry blossoms sleep

crystal morning light
snow and infinite green pines
egret wings take flight
