When September Comes – Love Haiku 19:21

When September Comes

19

when September comes
blown by the winds of absence
palpable your hands

20

lost fragrant blossoms
crisp crimson harvest draws near
your warmth, the rainbow

21

when cools the twilight
music of lavender mist
almost you are near.

Late August

Late August

icy warmth of late August
the wind has quenched the fires
of ephemeral dandelions,
beryl drops of blood
trickle down the boughs,
return
to their invisible roots —

the cambric air is drenched in
honeysuckle fragrance,
stealthy leaves
flavescent
among the pink petals.

Love Haiku 16:18

Love Haiku 16:18

16

so distant my love
vast are the ocean waters
ours the velvet skies

17

your resonant voice
sound of a longing cello
sparrow’s evening song

18

pathway in moonlight
leads to our familiar hills
trees dance in the night

Morning Rain

Morning Rain

Morning rain and I think of you again
when lavender light breaks open
the ebony sky —

bridal veil envelops the garden air,
magenta myrtle blooms skyward,
powder blue hydrangeas speckle
the moist ground,
scarlet geranium petals blaze
against the sea-green mist —

subtle
are the days
when seasons turn,
yet still
no matter the peculiar moments,
when morning rain arrives
I think of you again.
