Gardenia and Oleander

Gardenia and Oleander

dust of my beginnings,
verdant islands,
quest
of galleon ghosts,
once again I come
as the monsoon wind,
await
my incessant rains —

wet stars
fall from twilight skies,
miniscule
as grains of rice,
luminous cocoons
of vaporous rainbows —

drenched fingers gather
gardenia and oleander,
ripened petals fall
upon the pebbled soil,
soundless
amidst the water
splashes.

  1. Ahhh………you had me at Oleander. This piece was filled with emotion pooling beneath the water falls………emerging with each splash. WOW! I keep reading it over and am swept away every time. Thank you for this. I love it, Dee. ~ Always, Bobbie

  2. Wonderful. And yes, our poems…strange that we should be on similar paths. Really fine work – every step well guided, and being tactile, I really appreciate your ability to allow your words a feel of the surroundings – well done.
