Moonlight Silver to Autumn Gold

Moonlight Silver to Autumn Gold

Amidst the ebb and flow of tides,
listen to silence
ineffable,
deafening to the restless
crabs that crawl
from shell to shell
upon the amber sands  —

Look up to the strands
of moonlight,
above  the darkened,
serried pines of cryptic
forests —

Ride the chariot
of the hours,
await,
watch the silver countries
turn to Autumn gold
in the warmth of the morning
sunlight.

The Laughter of October

The Laughter of October

Mirth at sunset,
when herons scream
like children
in the shallows,
and up
on the branches,
aurulent shafts of light
play with the shadows
of auburn leaves —

Come to me and stay
awhile,
for the laughter of October
is upon my face,
a golden glow,
a raging fire that hides
in the Indian summers
of my heart.

Last Days of Summer

Last Days of Summer

Lemon scents linger
from blooms of white magnolia,
while a cool breeze tiptoes,
donned in ornate lace
into a summer dusk cathedral:
I hear the mellow sound of shaken leaves
upon their sun-tanned branches,
harp strings stroked by fingers
of the wind —

The purple grosbeak’s song endures
into the night,
nectared notes delight
as I revel in these ardent days
of crimson apples,
the primrose pulp of aubergine plums,
the musk-white fragrance of orange
blossoms,
the golden cloak of summer’s warmth
upon the vibrant flowers.
